Day 1
We have had an incredible first 24 hours here in Devon. Despite the traffic jams in Surrey we all arrived before 2pm yesterday and went straight out on activities. So far the six groups have done some pedal carting, some surfing, some tunnelling and some crate stacking. Miss Celine’s group went for a coastal walk and all got an ice cream on the beach!
At bedtime, all the children settled down well despite first night excitement and many were fast asleep early after their busy day. This morning the rain has held off so far and everyone has had a big breakfast of cereal, sausage, egg, fried potatoes and toast. We are now getting ready to walk down to Appledore to do some crabbing and ride the speed boat!
This afternoon the children have been surfing, crabbing and potholing!
Day 2
We had a great day yesterday, despite the rain, and we managed to catch 15 crabs as well as having the fastest boat ride ever! In the evening the children had their first chance to spend their money in the shop which they enjoyed. Today we are all going to the lake near Torrington to have a go at paddling some dragon boats and canoes. Some children are going ringo riding too on the river.
Everyone slept well last night after such a long day and we have just been singing happy birthday to the two children who are celebrating birthdays today. This evening we will have a little party for them. The children are being incredibly brave and having a go at all kinds of new activities which is great to see!
Day 3
Today is our last day of adventure before heading home tomorrow! Everyone has had a big breakfast and headed off to their various activities. This morning we have some children surfing, some ringo riding and some on the climbing wall. The children are doing so well despite having lots of wet clothes and shoes now!
We had a party yesterday evening for our two children with birthdays which was great. The cake and hot chocolate went down well with everybody including the staff!
After a busy day we will be packing our cases and bags tonight ready to leave around 10.30 tomorrow morning. We will do an update tomorrow morning before we leave and then keep you informed of our expected arrival time back at school.
Day 4
What a wonderful week the Year 6 children have had. They have challenged themselves and overcome their fears to complete all kinds of exciting water and land activities. We are very proud of them all!
The coach is due to leave at 10:30am with 45 very tired, happy children! We will give you updates as the journey progresses. See you soon!
