We had a good journey down. The children have had their picnic lunch and are now building shelters in the woods!
We had a great day yesterday. The children built some amazing shelters in the woods when we arrived. In the evening they learnt about life as a Roman soldier! Mr Gattey looked amazing dressed as a Roman centurion and all the children had a chance to get into training as if they were Roman soldiers. After much excitement the children settled down to a good nights sleep. We woke this morning to sunshine and after a good breakfast, the children are currently playing football, cards or drawing while we wait for today’s activities to start. They are looking forward to some Roman cooking, jewellery making and learning to march like a soldier. Later they will be visiting the adventure playground - so we have a busy day ahead of us!
Our final day and the sun is still shining! We had another busy day yesterday. The children have been fantastic and joined in all the activities with great enthusiasm. In the morning they became Roman cooks: chopping vegetables, making sausages and sweet bread. After it had been cooked on the open fire they were keen to taste their creations. We then became creative: making jewellery, clay pots and learning how to weave. In the evening we had a relaxing time designing and making mosaic tiles. The children enjoyed hot chocolate before settling down for a good nights sleep. They woke early this morning and after a hearty breakfast are now making onagars and aqueducts before we start our journey home. We aim to be back at school by 5pm but we’ll keep you updated with our progress.
