Welcome to Nursery 2024-2025

We are very excited to welcome your child into Butterfly class here at Leatherhead Trinity School and Nursery. Here is our class page where you will find lots of information about what is happening in Nursery.

The Nursery at Leatherhead Trinity provides a happy, secure, caring, and stimulating learning environment, where the achievements of all the children are celebrated and a positive attitude to learning is fostered. In our Nursery children are encouraged to be curious and independent learners who enjoy new challenges, take risks enthusiastically and are motivated to find out more about the world around them.  Throughout the day, there are lots of opportunities for children to learn through play. Learning opportunities will be set up inside and outside for the children to free flow between. There will also be opportunities for children to work in focus small group activities.

We begin the year with a focus on the Prime areas of learning i.e. Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Communication and Language; and Physical Development as these are important for the development of the whole child. Once the children have been successful in the prime areas, we begin to focus on our specific areas are Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design and the nursery plays a key role in enabling learning and development in these areas.

During the year, you can see your child's learning through their Tapestry learning journey. These are our topics for the year. These might change during the year depending on the children’s interests. Each topic is always linked to a high quality text, and we read widely around our topic.
