Early Years- Ladybird and Bumblebee

Welcome to Early Years!

At Leatherhead Trinity, our Early Years provision is thoughtfully structured to nurture every child’s growth and development from their very first steps in education. We offer a progressive journey through three key developmental stages: First Steps, Rising Reception, and Reception. This tailored approach ensures that each child receives the right support at the right time, laying strong foundations for lifelong learning.

Children are welcomed into one of our two vibrant Early Years classes—Ladybird and Bumblebee—where learning is play-based, inclusive, and engaging. Our dedicated team of teachers and support staff work collaboratively across all stages, adapting to the individual needs of each child. This flexible model allows us to provide a seamless and responsive learning experience, helping every pupil to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

During registration and transition periods, children are welcomed into their designated classrooms – First steps, Rising Reception and Reception. This provides a consistent and secure start to each day. Beyond these structured times, our Early Years provision embraces a dynamic free-flow approach, allowing pupils to access a wide range of stimulating learning environments both indoors and outdoors.

Our learning

During the year you can see our amazing learning by visiting our webpage. These are our topics for the year. These might change during the year depending on the children’s interests. Each topic is always linked a high-quality text, and we read widely around our topic. Then we do an immersion activity (an exciting event linked to the learning, e.g. a trip, a visitor, something exciting in class.) After that, we involve the children in choosing what they would like in each area of the classroom to explore each topic so that the learning is child-led wherever possible.
