Welcome
Choosing a Reception place is a big step – and at Leatherhead Trinity School and Nursery, we pride ourselves on giving children the very best start.
Our nurturing Early Years environment places strong emphasis on early language, phonics and reading, alongside play‑based discovery, outdoor learning and wellbeing. Children are supported by a highly skilled team who know them well and work in close partnership with families from day one.
With strong pastoral care, OPAL play, specialist teaching and a caring, values‑led Christian community, Leatherhead Trinity is a place where children feel safe, supported and ready to thrive.

In Reception at Leatherhead Trinity, children are given the time, care and encouragement they need to settle happily and grow in confidence. Our experienced Early Years team creates a calm, welcoming environment where children feel safe to explore, play and learn, supported by consistent routines and strong relationships.
Learning is carefully balanced between high‑quality teaching and purposeful play, with a strong focus on early language development, phonics and reading alongside creativity, outdoor learning and wellbeing. We work closely with families to support each child’s transition into school, ensuring every child feels known, supported and ready to flourish from the very start.
As children move through Leatherhead Trinity, the same care, high expectations and supportive relationships continue throughout the school. Our broad and balanced curriculum builds step‑by‑step from the strong foundations established in Reception, with specialist teaching in music, languages and the creative arts, alongside a strong focus on wellbeing, character and personal development.
Rooted in a values‑led Christian ethos and supported by strong pastoral care, we help children grow into confident, curious and compassionate learners who are well prepared for the next stage of their education and for life beyond the classroom.
As a Church of England school, we serve our local community by providing education rooted in Christian belief and practice. Our theologically grounded Christian vision shapes all we do, enabling every child to flourish academically, spiritually, and personally.
Our Christian values are:
Respect
"And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them."
Luke 6:31
Truth
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
John 8:32
Love
"Let us love one another, for love comes from God."
1 John 4:7
Forgiveness
"For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you."
Matthew 6:14
Commitment
"Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established."
Proverb 16:3
We are proud to offer a dedicated Speech, Language and Communication Needs Centre (SLCN). This specialist provision supports children with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs) by providing integrated education within our inclusive mainstream setting. Our flexible, classroom-based approach ensures each child’s individual needs are met, promoting successful inclusion and participation in all aspects of school life.
Our inclusive ethos is rooted in our theologically grounded Christian vision, which recognises the unique dignity and potential of every child. We strive to create an environment where all pupils, including those with additional needs, can flourish academically, spiritually, and socially.
