In Literacy, we write in a range of genres from patterned poetry to adventure stories, instructions to newspaper reports. Handwriting is practised so that children will be able to write in a joined up cursive style before the end of the year.
In Maths, formal and informal methods of calculating are taught together with time, shape, measuring and data.
Our philosophy is that our lessons should challenge, engage and support pupils to. We listen to each child’s concerns as part of ensuring that he or she enjoys Year 3 and is not unduly worried - and we aim to have fun!
Activities to support learning include the Natural History Museum, several visits to our parish church, and a Viking workshop day.
