At Leatherhead Trinity, we aim to inspire children to love reading and writing and to be confident about speaking up and discussing issues.  We encourage children to read for pleasure.  Active learning is extremely important and drama is at the forefront of this in motivating children to be confident writers across a variety of genres.

Read Write Inc is our phonics programme for Key Stage 1 and is used for some children further up the school if there is the need.  It is a very successful programme that uses resources aimed at the child's exact reading level.  Read Write Inc lessons also include spelling, handwriting and other writing skills.  This is the link to the Read Write Inc website if you would like to know more.
This is a link to a really useful website that gives you lots of ideas of how to help your child at home with reading and writing.

Book week 2016

Book week at Leatherhead Trinity! We started the week with a visit from superheroes! We found superhero costumes around the school on Monday morning. Every class then wrote about the superhero visit. We had a visit from the author Jennifer Grey who shared her fantastic books with us. Every class based their literacy on a book for the week. In Y3 children had a tea party and wrote their own versions of Alice in Wonderland. In Y2 children read the book 'The Man on the Moon'. At the end of the week parents were invited in to see the children's fantastic work.
