Your child will benefit hugely from reading regularly at home and also from being read to. We therefore ask that your child develops the habit of reading at home every day. There are examples of questions to ask in their reading record to help develop their comprehension skills.
Literacy and Maths Home Learning
Home Learning is given out on a Friday to be completed by the following Wednesday. An after school Home Learning Club is available. Places are limited; so are allocated according to need.
Maths home learning is alternated with a task/game/worksheet 1 week and an online task (My Maths) the following week.
Literacy home learning could be writing for a variety of purposes, a story retelling, a piece of research etc.
Year 2 Spellings ( 5 words a week linked to the spelling pattern of the week) to be sent home
Half-termly Home Learning Project
Your child will have the opportunity to complete a half-termly project linked to the Year group topic. This could be a craft, poster, piece of art, power point etc.
Children really enjoy sharing this project with you and then bringing it in to school to show their classmates.
