Modern Foreign Languages

At Leatherhead Trinity we believe that learning a language is an important educational, social and cultural experience for our pupils. It helps to develop communication and literacy skills and provides the opportunity to explore the differences and similarities between a foreign language and English.

We aim to provide our children with a curiosity about languages that will equip them for further study.  Our pupils learn French from Year 1 to Year 6. Songs, games, rhymes and raps are used to help support memorisation and make learning fun, while traditional songs and stories help develop their understanding of life in French speaking countries. They learn about the multicultural world around us and have the opportunity to develop their interest in the culture of other nations.  Modern Foreign Languages is a subject which has the potential for valuing diversity and challenging racism.
